Welcome to our new

We are in the process
of revamping our website - please bear with us...
Need help for your
pet?
Our highly qualified veterinary staff is here to help you in any way we can. We take our patient care
seriously, as part of the Veterinarian's Oath is "above all, do no harm".
Sometimes when pet's are ill, it can be difficult to weigh "proper" medical care and tailor that to the client's ability to spend. Obviously, in severe sickness, a pet owner sometimes can accrue a very large veterinary bill.
Do our best to keep you advised of your pet's medical expenses at all times,
either for out patient visits with computer-generated estimates or hospitalized patients
with daily doctor exams and account updates.
Bed and Biscuit Pet Retreat
We know that choosing
to leave your pet in a boarding facility can be a hard choice, that is
why we offer superior care and attention for all of your furry family
members. You can view and print out our boarding
contract which explains the options available to you and your pet
during their stay. If you do choose to have your pet stay with us, you may fill out a contract for your pet and bring it with
you when checking in. This will save time for you and make your check-in
run smoother.
What to ask your veterinarian
about vaccinations...
The ideas and medical
reasonings behind administering vaccinations have been prevelant for
years and were developed before most of us were born. Vaccines act by
stimulating the immune system to build resistance against certain
diseases. While most of the diseases that we, as veterinarians,
vaccinate for are significant and possibly life threatening, there has
been speculation over the last 10-15 years that maybe we don't need to
use certain types of vaccines as frequently as we have been. The doctors
at Westwood have taken a head on approach with this controversy and have
chosen to make changes to our vaccine policies as a result of the
recommendations and guidelines set forth by AAHA and AAFP.
We use high quality
and proven effective vaccines for all dogs. Puppies are encouraged to
follow the recommended vaccine booster schedule to ensure complete
effectiveness of the vaccines. We vaccinate adult dogs with a
manufacturer labeled 3 year Rabies vaccine and recommend administering
the adult DHPP vaccine every 3 years after puppyhood. The adult
Leptospirosis vaccine is recommended annually while Lyme and Bordetella
vaccines are recommended annually depending on your pet's lifestyle.
We use adjuvant free
feline vaccines. What this means to you and your pet is that these
vaccines have been proven to be safer for use in cats. Kittens are
encouraged to follow the recommended vaccine booster schedule to ensure
complete effectiveness of the vaccines. After kittenhood, adult cats are
vaccinated every 3 years for FVRCP while Feline Leukemia vaccine is
given every 3 years depending on your cat's lifestyle. We use a 1 year
muanufacturer labeled Rabies vaccine for cats.
